Serving Tillamook County
As commissioners, the issues we focus on are integrally tied into a vital county. In a vital county, the county and its cities and communities having strong economies, healthy natural environments, good schools, diversity in types of housing, quality and accessible health care, strong arts communities, and more. We cannot make life better for one without making life better for all. I am excited to continue to bring my skills, experience, and big picture thinking to help build on the strengths we have, and to address our issues to continue to strengthen this vital county.
My Priorities Include:
- End our housing shortage by adding more homes that are affordable for those who work and live in Tillamook County.
- Address homelessness and addiction through coordinated services that help get people back on their feed and improve the livability of our communities.
- Help families thrive by creating pathways to good jobs in both traditional industries and newer ones.
- Utilizing tax dollars wisely by ensuring efficient use of funds and innovation in government.
- Support a future for our natural resources industry. We must build a collaborative relationship with the state to ensure that our local concerns and perspectives are heard and respect4ed in forestry and natural resource policies.
County Commissioners have Three Overarching Roles:
- Effective Management - The first role is to oversee the operations of the county, assuring that there are adequate revenues and that they are used wisely to provide the services required. This should include both short and long term operational planning for county departments and their assets.
- Local Leadership - The second role is to lead the county toward a future that residents of the county desire. This big picture work requires the commissioners to work on projects that are not always directly in the control of the county government, but that must be addressed to have the vital county that we desire.
- State and Federal Advocacy - The third role is to engage with the State and Federal governments to bring the resources that are needed from outside the county, and to protect the county from outside forces that could be damaging.
